A social outlet for many of our retired parishioners.
We are the most experienced generation of Ravanica, the 62+ year olds that have been around a few years, done it all and and seen a couple generations before us and after us.
The members of our Club truly love Ravanica and can often be found volunteering their time around the church every Sunday, donating their time, talent and treasures that are so needed to upkeep and maintain the church, hall and grounds. And most importantly, we support every church function and every organization and their efforts.
When we are not busy babysitting, we can be found at Serbian events around the Detroit area. We even take day and overnight bus trips to neighboring states to attend Serb or Folk Festivals held by other churches in our Diocese. The trip to Frankenmouth is among the favorite annual affairs of the Pensioner's Club. Our annual Christmas party is something every member looks forward to attending each December.
Starting in the summer of 2021, the Pensioner's Club will also be awarding one deserving graduating High School senior with a $1,000 scholarship. Like the Sisters of Ravanica, the Pensioners Club wishes to make a difference in the future of Ravanica by helping a deserving young individual realize their dreams.
The 2nd Tuesday of every month, the Pensioners come together over lunch in the Hall, catch up and conduct business. Special meetings regarding upcoming events may also be called from time to time, but more often than not, meetings are about seeing each other, having a great time, and making a difference in our Ravanica community.
Due to COVID-19, the 2020 scheduled of events has changed, however, an outdoor gathering at the Staro Selo picnic grounds will likely be hosted this summer. Stay tuned for more information.
Helping and supporting the Ravanica youth is perhaps one of the most important roles the Pensioner's Club plays in our community! The Fall and Winter are always an exciting time at Ravanica because the children start Sunday School and Cultural classes, and host many events which the Pensioner's Club members take part in. Stay tuned for Fall and Winter events.
